Cime: imprint of Che in today's Cuba.

Commander Ernesto Che Guevara, as Minister of Industries, conceived as necessary the organization and development of the scientific-technical bases that would ensure the sustainability of various projects, including those related to welded constructions.
As a result of an investment process in the central laboratory of the old Cuban Institute for the Development of Machinery (ICDM), in accordance with Che's proposal, the current Center for Metallurgical Research (Cime) was founded on May 24, 1964.
Located in the capital municipality of La Lisa, the Cime is one of the country's labor groups that holds the Che Nuestro Commemorative Plaque, awarded on the 50th anniversary of its fall in combat by the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba (CTC) and the Sindicato de Industries.
El Cime is a company dedicated to the development and introduction of new technologies, evaluation, certification and verification of the properties of metals of national origin and imported in accordance with the parameters declared contractually and in accordance with established standards.
It also conducts training and updating of technicians and specialists, develops standards and opinions for claims processes, among other responsibilities associated with welding, electroplating and electrolytic coatings, inspection and certification of fuel tanks, pressure vessels, oil and gas pipelines, for just quote a few missions.
El Cime is the only center in the country with the capacity for the inspection and verification of steels and special materials, cast iron, copper, and aluminum, including both alloys, through laboratories certified by the National Accreditation Office of the Republic of Cuba (Onarc) and mechanical, non-destructive, structural analysis and chemical composition determination tests are carried out, the results of which are valid internationally, according to Omar Nieves, Director of the Center, in an interview with the Trabajadores newspaper.
The group of the Metallurgical Research Center is characterized by the high sense of belonging of its workers, aware that they are the result of the CHE's legacy and the importance that its management has for the development of Cuban industry. A collective of victory shows the imprint of the Heroic Guerrilla.
