The Central University of Las Villas and the Las Tunas Stainless Steel Company (Acinox) signed collaboration agreements to promote mutual development in the areas of human resources and automation.
The potentialities that Acinox exhibits as a source for innovation projects and undergraduate and postgraduate research are some of the attractions to bet on it as a comprehensive school. There, practice and theory must be dialectically united to achieve development.
Such characteristics caught the attention of the directors of the Central University of Las Villas Martha Abreu, at the second International Scientific Convention held at the end of last month. This situation was conducive to sealing an agreement that solidifies with the visit of the first vice-rector of UCLV and the leader of the National Robotics Group.
In the exchange held by executives of the Acinox company and representatives of the Villaclareña High Studies House, the wills to establish alliances that promote the development of the Cuban industry were expressed.
Luis Antonio Barranco Olivera, first vice-rector of the UCLV, expressed the need to establish a full alliance between Cuban universities and companies.
“There is a crucial legal part, but the most important thing is the commitment of the people. We are aware that the budgeted sector must accompany the business sector, to ensure that these salary changes are fruitful. ”
Among the concrete examples of the link between UCLV and Acinox is the participation of some electrical engineers in the project led by Dr. Guillermo González Yero for innovation in the steel mill's production line.
This research team is focused on achieving the reduction of energy costs, low consumption rates of refractories and electrodes in the metallurgical industry.
The leader of the National Robotics Group, Luis Hernández Santana, highly valued the engineering solutions developed at the Acinox company.
“I think I am not exaggerating when I say that we have come here to learn. This is a factory with a very high production level and a group of very capable engineers and technicians. Both parties have identified their difficulties and from there, we will begin to work together to solve them. That is the raison d'être of our agreement ”.
The first vice-rector of the Villaclareña High Studies House on his tour of the factory identified areas in which professionals from his University can participate to optimize processes.
"We can work together to achieve the required water quality. We have research on particulate compounds applied in Villa Clara companies, which would be useful for the processing of waste. "
Barranco Olivera, expressed interest in, in the future, include other specialties to the project such as electrical, mechanical and even social and economic sciences that also have a stake in the company.
