Since 2015, work has been done on the beautification of many of the GESIME facilities in the capital. In the avenues Independencia (Boyeros) and Vía Blanca they wear their best clothes: one of the headquarters of the Central Office of GESIME, the UEB Elio Llerena (NOVALUM) of ENVAMETAL, the Irrigation Company, the Company of Containers and Packaging, the Center of Metallurgical Investigations, among many others.
The Metal-Mechanical Company Varona has become a center of reference at work to restore the splendor of Havana in its 500 years. Among many of his contributions can be mentioned his contribution to the assembly of the exhibition "Utopia" on Paseo José Martí, known as Paseo del Prado, these are eight monoliths, exhibition structures designed by the Spanish company Clorofila Digital and manufactured in Cuba by the VARONA Metal-Mechanical Company. The repair and construction of bridges in the neighborhoods of San Miguel del Padrón and Habana Este, the restoration of the statues and part of the hydraulic system of the well-known Pyong Yang Fountain, very close to the Villa Panamericana, the repairs of Children's Parks, among Many other tasks earned the Varona Metal-Mechanical Company the "For the 500 years of Havana" distinction.
It is essential to set aside the Cuban Steel UEB, the Steel Transformation Company (EMTA), the Automotive Services company (EISA) and the UEB Vanguardia Socialista, from Metalworking VARONA, all cruelly lashed by the tornado of the spent 27 January in Havana. Always looking to the future, and taking into account customer commitments, the workers of these entities quickly recovered their facilities, although many of them had their own effects on their homes and families. GESIME is proud of such valuable collectives.
We await the arrival of half a century of our Havana, quoting the words of Dr. Eusebio Leal Spengler: “Let's fight for Havana, let's accept the challenge of fighting for our city.
