And because everything that is done to unleash the potentialities in the socialist state company is a priority for the Cuban Government, the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, began his work day this Wednesday in areas of the Metal-Mechanical Company Varona , an outstanding place in the country with the merit of always being in constant development and after the search for new projects, designs and assemblies.

Located in the Havana municipality of San Miguel del Padrón, the entity was founded by the Commander-in-Chief of the Cuban Revolution on April 10, 1978 and products and pieces are born from its workshops that currently allow considerable savings in terms of replacing imports.

Accompanied by the Minister of Industries, Eloy Álvarez Martínez, and leaders of the Party and the Government in Havana, the Cuban president toured the facilities of the Varona Base Business Unit, the most important of the five that make up the Metal-Mechanical Company, and Among the main functions of which are the production of stainless steel parts, pieces and equipment mainly used for the integration of the minindustries dedicated to processing fruits and vegetables.

During the tour, the CEO of the Company, Jorge Pérez Cruz, explained to the Cuban president that the UEB Varona is also dedicated to the construction of spare parts for sugar plants, tanks to store water, fuel or alcohol, water treatment plants for water and furniture and equipment for the food and medical industry.

"These are the things we have to keep doing," Díaz-Canel said. What you do here is not only an important contribution to import substitution, but also leaves us with development in the national industry. In this sense, he insisted that this is one of the companies that must continue to promote and expose their products in all possible scenarios so that they are known.

About the operation of the five base business units that make up La Varona, where today more than 800 workers work, Pérez Cruz also commented, to whom the Cuban Head of State insisted on the importance of also focusing on the export of many of their products.

Thus it was learned in addition to the wide radius of action of the Varona that includes the transformation of the canning industry in the country; the manufacture of cisterns on trucks to supply water during periods of intense drought; the development of spare parts for the feed industry; and new development projects in the Mariel Special Development Zone.

The group asked President Díaz-Canel not to forget the importance of relating to universities as sources of innovation and development, as well as of promoting the computerization process that is carried out in the country and that, from his point of view, in These facilities must also contemplate the automation of processes to support production.
