On Wednesday, September 18, the second stage of restoration of the Anti-Imperialist Tribune began. The Monte de las Banderas gradually gives way to each one of its masts over 20 meters high, in a process in which the cranes that now surround it and the men who remove large structures do not stop its foundations.

“To return all its majesty to the Anti-Imperialist Tribune, work began yesterday to remove the 138 flagpoles that make up the Mount of Flags. Each pillar is built with structural steel, which has suffered the ravages of time. It is in an area constantly affected by saltpeter and various meteorological phenomena, ”Orestes Llanes Mestres, vice president of the Provincial Administration Council (CAP), explained to Cubadebate.

As the official clarifies, all the structures will be taken to Gesime workshops where their condition will be evaluated and repaired. "The dismantling process should last about 20 days, while the maintenance will last several months"

"After these actions, the recovered flagpoles will be placed in their place and the flags will fly on top of them as a sign of Cubanness."

Commenting on the progress of the investment process in the Anti-Imperialist Tribune, Llanes said that the work is going according to schedule, despite some delays due to the project and the rains in the previous months.

“Currently the 25th and 29th Brigades of the Blas Roca Calderío Contingent are working in the Tribune. Work is being done on the south and north building of the rostrum, as well as on the remodeling of the side walls and the restoration of the arches. Two of the latter have already been completed and all will be completed in October. ”

The vice president of the Provincial Administration Council insisted that before the anniversary of the capital, work will be carried out on the statue of Martí, as well as on the floor of the plaza.

“We reiterate that this space will be the place par excellence to fight the battles of the Revolution against imperialism and to promote solidarity among the peoples of the world. We remove the visible, but its foundations will continue with the spirit of Fidel ”, he concluded.
